Are you looking for a way to capture the stories of your life? We all have them—from big turning points to the smaller and tenderly significant. In this class, you’ll shape one piece from start to finish as you develop an understanding of plot, description, dialogue, and setting. We’ll go through the writing process and you’ll have one completed story at the end of the seminar. Come learn, have fun, and share the gift of the written word. This is a multi-level class for those who are beginning the writing journey and those with experience.

Instructor Kathleen Melin is the author of By Heart: A mother’s story of children and learning at home (Clover Valley Press 2008). Her work has been nominated for “Best of the Net,” the Pushcart Prize, and Best American Essays. Kathleen’s work has appeared in literary magazines nationally and internationally including Under the Sun, Split Rock Review, The Baltimore Review, Barstow and Grand, and Poets & Writers. She has taught at the University of Minnesota, the University of Wisconsin Colleges, Summit School for the Arts, conferences, festivals, and farms. She has an MFA from the University of Minnesota and loves cultivating the written word.
